Other Research Experience
2020 to present: In addition to my community work with the Refugee Initiative, I have been serving as an Arabic survey designer for an upcoming Refugee Health Needs Assessment for the state of Pennsylvania, led by my colleague Chandat Phan in partnership with the PA Department of Health.
Spring 2019: I worked at CDC-NIOSH as a contracted employee in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I conducted a 12-year output review of the NIOSH Mining Contracts Program. This research served to assess the impact of the contracts program.
Summer 2018: I served as an intern at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the mentorship of Maria Lioce, MD in Atlanta, Georgia. I performed a 10-year output review of the NIOSH Office of Extramural Program’s research grant program (a component of impact assessment).
2017-2018: I spent 1 year researching the role of the proteasome in meiosis under the mentorship of Judith Yanowitz, PhD. Learn more at yanoworm.org, the lab website.
